A flatbed truck caught fire Tuesday morning at the Maricopa Unified School District administration building.

About 9:25 a.m., flames were visible from the vehicle parked in a lot on the west side of the building. Heavy black smoke billowed into the air.

Maricopa police responded to the scene and closed the entrance to the parking lot. Maricopa Fire personnel arrived shortly thereafter to extinguish the blaze.

As the fire burned, small explosions could be heard.
