The Maricopa Friends of the Arts raised $10,000 to support and promote the arts on Saturday night.

The volunteer, nonprofit group reached goal with its first fundraising event, Maricopa Taste the Arts event at Global Water.

A portion of the funds raised by the sellout event will be contributed toward the purchase of a piano for Maricopa High School’s Performing Arts Center. Grants will also be funded to encourage artists in the community.

The event was attended by community and business leaders and others wishing to support the local arts scene.

Taste The Arts included dinner-dessert-wine tastings prepared by Roots Eatery, KayLee Pro Desserts and Honeycutt Coffee Wines.

The evening also featured musical entertainment presented by Maricopa Music Circle and Maricopa Community Theater.

Classical guitarist Vito Simplicio, a Maricopa resident, also entertained the crowd.

The visual arts were highlighted by the works of many local artists.

Since May 2021, MFOTA has worked to foster, promote and financially support art forms in Maricopa and surrounding communities.

The volunteer-run nonprofit recognizes the quality-of-life benefits the creative energy of a variety of art forms provides directly and indirectly to artists and their audiences.
