Governor Napolitano asking Arizonans for money saving strategies

Governor Janet Napolitano is asking that Arizonans share their strategies for saving money and using taxpayer dollars more effectively.

The national economic downturn — and our state budget deficit — affects every Arizonan, explained the Governor.

“That’s why I wanted to tell you about a new Web portal, Arizona Openness and Savings Strategies, where state agencies can share strategies in real time to save money, and where Arizonans can contribute their ideas,” Napolitano said.

Over the past six years, state agencies have saved more $1 billion through efficiency efforts, but there are always more good ideas about how taxpayer dollars can be used most effectively.

“That’s why we want to hear from you. If there’s a strategy you’ve used at your business or at home, you can send it in through the AZ-OSS Web site at www.az.gov/oss,” Napolitano explained.

She added that residents can also look at the AZ-OSS Web site for up-to-date information about ongoing efforts to manage the state budget.

The Governor added, “You can always reach my office at (602) 542-1318, and you can visit my Web site to learn more about the state budget and other issues I’ve been working on.”
