Villages burglaries
This still from video of a woman running down the driveway of his home was captured by homeowner Chris Cahall.

Maricopa police are asking residents in the Villages to check their home surveillance cameras after a handgun was taken overnight in a rash of burglaries from vehicles.

The incidents occurred on Miramar and Santa Cruz roads, the department said in a Facebook post Monday morning. Police did not say whether the vehicles were locked or unlocked.

One homeowner has shared video with police of a female trying to enter a backyard about 5 a.m. It is undetermined if the person had anything to do with the burglaries, but police said the timing is suspicious.

Police posted this video and this video on its Facebook page.

Police said they have collected a set of fingerprints and the incidents are under investigation.

Residents who may have video or other information about the burglaries are asked to contact the department.
