A haunted house at UltraStar Multi-tainment Center will be designed as an abandoned insane asylum for Halloween.

For Halloween weekend, UltraStar Multi-tainment Center at Ak-Chin Circle will host a haunted house, vampire laser tag, trick or treating, and an adult party that includes a costume contest.

The Urban Arena Laser Tag arena will transform into “The Menagerie of Madness” Oct. 28-30.

As the story goes, in 1894 the Bellevue Asylum was opened; 250 rooms housed 347 patients, with severe overcrowding. Different violent experiments were performed on several of the patients, living and dead. In 1949, body parts of two serial killers were transplanted to patients, who went on a killing spree. Many received shock therapy; lobotomies left patients in a vegetative or zombified state. In 1972, two doctors accidentally received a high-voltage shock that rewired their brains, and the asylum soon became a bloodbath before it was shut down. At least that‘s the story …

Those who dare to step into the Menagerie of Madness haunted house can do so Oct. 28-29 from 6 to 10 p.m. and Oct. 30 from 5 to 9 p.m. On Oct. 31, attendees can test their skills at dodging vampires in “Vampire Laser Tag.” The cost for both events is $6 per entry.

Oct. 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., children are encouraged to dress up and trick or treat at various departments and at the craft fair that is being held the same day. Face painting will also be available in the lobby.

That night, adults can get into costume and gather at Luxe Lounge for the “Halloween Hocus Pocus Party” featuring DJ Jade and a costume contest plus drink specials starting at 10 p.m. for those 21 and older. Ladies will still be able to enjoy regular Saturday Night Ladies Night specials along with additional witchy potions such as The Witches Brew, Poisoned Apple, Soul Sucker and also the mysterious Magic Spell shots. The costume contest will have three categories: Sexiest, Scariest and Best Couple, with $100 prize for all category winners.

Ten Pins Down and 347 Grill will also have specials for Oct. 31.
