Holiday decorating contest open to homes and businesses

Maricopa homes and businesses can deck the halls in hopes of winning prizes by entering the city’s Holiday Homes and Businesses on Parade contest.

The winner of the home contest will receive a $500 Ace Hardware gift card.

Winners of the business decorating contest will have the fee for a banner permit waived for six months from January 2013 to June 2013.

The contest is open to residents of the greater Maricopa area or any business with a current business license with the city located in commercial business zones.

Entries will be judged in the following categories: best on parade; best light show; best theme; best use of color and residents’ choice.

Applications must be turned in to city hall by Thursday, Nov. 29 at 6 p.m.
