Holiday tree disposal options offered

Once your seasonal festivities are over, there are several options for the community to properly dispose of their holiday trees. The Maricopa Recycle/Transfer Station on 46250 W McDavid Rd. will be open on the following days/times:

• Friday: Dec. 31 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• Saturdays: Jan. 8, Jan. 15, Jan. 22; 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Local trash collection companies have the following options for holiday tree disposal:

1. Waste Management
   Classified as recycling. beginning December 26 and ending January 14, Waste Management will collect holiday trees free of charge. Trees must be stripped of all ornaments, garlands, tinsel, flocking, stands, and placed on the curb near your carts, on your regularly scheduled collection day. Trees not meeting these guidelines, (such as flocked trees) will not be picked up for recycling
2. Right Away Disposal (RAD)
   Trees are accepted for “Special Collection”. Contact RAD by calling (480) 983-9100 to arrange for “Special Collection”. Must be placed on the curb by 6:00 am on your scheduled collection day!
3. Republic
   We provide a special collection for Christmas Trees up to 8 feet long during the first two weeks of January on your regularly scheduled yard waste day. Please remove all decorations & tinsel before placing at the curb. Trees not picked up by the second Wednesday in January will be collected with the trash the following week.
