A Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness might be coming to Maricopa.

Jehovah’s Witness is proposing to build a Kingdom Hall in Maricopa.

The 3,225-square-foot, single-story building would be at 40559 W. Honeycutt Road.

Kingdom Hall is a place of worship for Jehovah’s Witnesses and persons interested in learning about the Bible.

According to pre-application documents submitted to the city, “Throughout the world, Kingdom Halls have been known to be small, modest, clean buildings, where people of all backgrounds gather to encourage one another.”

The facility would include an auditorium, meeting room, multipurpose room and 54 parking spaces, including three ADA compliant spaces.

A single entrance on the northern side of the property is proposed off West Honeycutt Road and an aggregate base course driveway will provide a second access point for emergency vehicles at the southwestern side of the property.

Documents state that as many as four congregations, each with 90-120 people, may use a Kingdom Hall facility. Two congregations are in line to meet at the Maricopa location.

Each congregation meets twice a week, once during the week in the evening and once on the weekend, typically on Sunday morning or early afternoon. Small groups gather at the hall daily prior to heading out to participate in field-ministry activities.
