Maricopa High School senior Johnny Johnson Jr. and sophomore Josh Johnson both received First Team All Section Basketball honors for Division III Section V.
“Both of these student athletes had phenomenal seasons,” Coach Jake Neill said.
The Johnsons led most categories for the Rams basketball team this season. Josh was MHS’s leading scorer with 537 points, averaging 19.9 per game. He also led in assists with 110 and steals with 91. His 103 total rebounds were third on the team, an average of 3.8 per game. He shot 52 percent from the field.
Johnny was second in team scoring with 504 points in 26 games, a 19.4 average. He led in rebounds with 125, 4.8 per game. He was second in assists (65) and steals (76).
For the record, the player with the second most rebounds on the team was sophomore El Jones with 113. He also easily led in blocks with 18.
