Maricopa composer honored

The Paradise Valley-based Arizona Pro Arte Ensemble has announced that Maricopa resident Judith Lang Zaimont was awarded “special recognition” in its Call for Scores competition for her composition “Elegy for Sting Orchestra.”

Zaimont is internationally recognized for her distinctive style, characterized by its expressive strength and dynamism. Zaimont’s music is frequently played in the United States, including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, and abroad. It is published, recorded and commissioned by ensembles and solo performers worldwide.

Arizona Pro Arte offered two Call for Scores projects:

Winners were:

  • Chamber orchestra –Ingrid Stölzel, Genius Loci, “Spirit of Place.” 
  • Chamber wind ensemble: Adria L. Stolk, “Pear Tree.”
