A love triangle and an alleged assault this summer led to one woman being charged last month.

In June, the Maricopa Police Department responded to a call at The New HQ bar where Guadalupe Torres was accused of pushing a woman to the floor.

Torres’ female friend reportedly kicked the woman as she was down, the victim told police in the report.

The victim broke her left ankle because of the fall and was immediately transported to Chandler Regional Medical Center, where she received surgery to repair the fracture. The victim later received “extensive rehabilitation” for the injury as well.

Torres and her friend fled the bar before MPD arrived, according to police.

The victim reported the incident is the result of an 8-month-long affair she said she was having with Torres’ husband.

One month before the incident, Torres and the victim communicated over the phone and through text messaging, the victim told police.

The women agreed to meet to discuss the affair, but police reports state the victim said Torres canceled the meeting because “she would probably want to fight (the victim).”

Police paid a visit to Torres at her home on Sept. 21, over three months after the alleged assault. The police report states Torres was charged with aggravated assault “based on the nature of (the victim’s) injury.”

According to state statute, Torres’ aggravated assault charge is a class 4 felony if convicted.
