Knorr officially earns 2-year MUSD board seat

The Pinal County Board of Supervisors approved a motion at its meeting Wednesday to cancel the 2014 election for certain special districts or elections.

In all elections in which the number of candidates equals the number of available positions, the candidates will automatically be appointed and not placed on the November ballot.

The applicable local election is for the two-year term on the Maricopa Unified School District Governing Board, in which AnnaMarie Knorr was the only candidate.

Knorr has served on the school board since 2012 when she appointed to replace a board member who resigned. .

“I’m honored to serve the voters and children two more years,” Knorr said. “I appreciate the trust they have instilled in me, and I will make sure to keep doing my best to ensure that children in the district have the education that they need and deserve.”

Incumbent governing board member Patti Coutré will compete with four other candidates –Rhonda Melvin, Gary Miller, Adam Schrader and Jaysie Sheppard – for two four-year seats on the board.

The general election is Nov. 4.
