Brian Kontak followed a second round 66 with a third and final round one-under 71 to win today’s Grey Goose Gateway Tour event at Southern Dunes Golf Club (see related story).

Jerry Smith started the day two strokes back and fired a 32 on the front side to take a commanding lead. A triple-bogey seven on the Par 4 15th, however, gave the lead back to Kontak who did not relinquish it the rest of the way.

“I was five under through eight and gave it away,” Smith said.

Kontak won for the second time this year and pocketed $17,000. He retains his position atop the Gateway Tour money list having earned more than $47,036 through seven events.
