City to conduct labor survey

379

The city of Maricopa is asking residents to support local economic development by taking part in a brief, household labor survey. The labor survey, last conducted in 2009, provides information most requested by prospective employers and identifies appropriate target industries for the community.

Survey responses are confidential and will be presented in the final report. The survey will be available online at Maricopa-AZ.gov starting Jan. 1.

A mailed survey will be sent randomly to 5,000 households via the Global Water monthly billing statements. A pre-paid envelope will be provided to return the survey. Each household is asked to submit only one survey.

“Availability of a skilled workforce constantly ranks as one of the most important site selection factors for businesses,” Economic Development Director Micah Miranda said. “The 2013 Maricopa Labor Survey is conducted to provide relevant and up-to-date information to businesses considering Maricopa as a site location. By participating in this survey, residents are aiding the city’s economic development efforts.”

Elliott D. Pollack & Company, a Scottsdale-based economic consulting firm, has been contracted to analyze the survey results and prepare a statistically-valid summary report.
