The Tortosa subdivision HOA joined forces with the UltraStar Multi-tainment Center to host a laser tag tournament for Maricopa High School students, teachers, parents and government officials to compete and raise money for the school’s booster club.

“This is our kickoff to ‘Paint the Town Red’ for Maricopa’s Homecoming week,” Tortosa HOA Compliance Coordinator Diane Zavala said.

In total, four teams made up of six players entered the tournament. Each team’s goal seemed to focus on defeating the tournament’s defending champion, Maricopa Mayor Christian Price. The mayor’s team also featured City Councilmember Vincent Manfredi, but fellow councilman Henry Wade took up arms against his government partners.***

“The mayor won last year, so a lot of people came back for that,” Zavala said. “He lost this year, so a lot of people were excited about that.”

Aside from beating the mayor, participants were able to come together as a community, enjoy pizza provided by the UltraStar staff and have fun with family and friends.

“We were here to fundraise for the MHS booster club,” Tortosa Lifestyle Director Taryn Garrod said. “We do an annual laser tag showdown where teachers, staff, students and city officials get to come together and battle it out for the winning team.”
