Left turns from Honeycutt onto SR 347 now illegal

The prohibition of left turns from Honeycutt Road onto State Route 347 officially began Monday and will be actively enforced by the Maricopa Police Department.

Officer Jenny Alsidez, Maricopa Police Department spokeswoman, said warnings and citations will issued to violators of the new traffic regulation at police officers’ discretion.

Drivers are asked not to go through North Pershing Street or Plainview Street because the residential streets are not designed for high volumes of traffic.

Instead, motorists will be directed to access Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway via Maricopa Groves Parkway.

Because Honeycutt Road is two lanes, drivers wanting to turn left onto State Route 347/John Wayne Parkway traffic often backed up traffic, especially during the morning commute.

The long line of cars sometimes blocked access to the Honeycutt Business Park.
