Amber Liermann Maricopa City Councilmember
Maricopa City Councilmember Amber Liermann has been selected to participate in the prestigious Dodie Londen leadership course.

Maricopa City Council member Amber Liermann has been accepted into the Dodie Londen Excellence in Public Service Training Series. She is the only woman from Pinal County selected for the program for the coming year.

Acceptance into the program is a competitive process, and Liermann said she was proud to gain entry.

“I have been seeking and preparing for an opportunity like this for two years,” Liermann said. “I am humbled, honored and excited to get started this month.”

The Dodie Londen program prepares Republican women to be more effective leaders in government, politics, and in the community. Each year, a group of women representing all parts of Arizona participate in training sessions, which last for nine months, to gain skills that will enhance their civic and political participation.

This year’s class includes eight representatives from Maricopa County, three from Yavapai, and Liermann from Pinal. The course consists of monthly training sessions that provide women from around Arizona with the opportunity to learn from state and national leaders in their fields.

The monthly courses include topics such as local government and school boards; communications; public speaking; education law; campaigns; state government; federal government; and politics.

One of the things Liermann said she likes most about the program is the diverse curriculum.

I look forward to learning more about topics like leadership, local government and communication,” Liermann said. “I am motivated to build relationships with other leaders in the state of Arizona and be more effective in my service to Maricopa.”

When the 2022 session concludes, the Londen Series will have graduated 172 women from 11 Arizona counties: Cochise, Coconino, Gila, Graham, Greenlee, Maricopa, Mohave, Navajo, Pima, Pinal, and Yavapai.

“I am very proud to represent Pinal County and the city of Maricopa in this way,” Liermann said. “I am ready to be mentored by leaders who have had success in serving their communities and achieved positive changes.”
