Local companies vital to salsa festival’s success

The inaugural Maricopa Salsa Festival presented by inmaricopa.com is heating up. Not only are salsa tasters and makers gearing up for the April 30 event, but local companies are also stepping up to support the Maricopa Parks, Recreation and Libraries Department production.

The City’s PRL department operates on a limited budget and its director, Marty McDonald, created the salsa festival with no monies coming from the City’s coffers. “This event is totally self-sufficient financially,” McDonald said. “Everything required to stage the event – from prizes to tortilla chips to advertising – is being supplied or paid for by our sponsors. We absolutely could not host this event without their support.”
