A Maricopa man is facing warrant charges after his arrest earlier this month.

Shawn Baptisto, 34, was confronted by police after an incident at his ex-girlfriend’s apartment on West Edwards Circle, Maricopa police said.

Around 6 a.m. on Sept. 19, police received a complaint from a woman reporting her ex-boyfriend was allegedly trying to force his way into her home. The woman identified the man as Baptisto, who was found to have two active warrants out of Maricopa for 3rd degree criminal trespassing, police said.

Baptisto had previously been arrested by city police in early 2019 for allegedly stealing a bike and an electric sander from another residence in the Edwards Circle area.

Officers searched the premises for Baptisto, who was found trying to hide in the rear patio area of a different apartment, police said. Due to a lack of evidence and an independent witness, no charges were filed in the alleged incident reported by Baptisto’s ex-girlfriend.

Baptisto was taken into custody on the outstanding warrants and booked into Pinal County Jail. He has since been released, according to online jail records.
