Maricopa middle schools have started offering a class called small machines.

This class uses machines to teach students the concepts of math and science in a fun and productive way.

During the course students build cranes, cars, rocket airplanes and other machines to reinforce and test the concepts they learn.

The class is offered at both the Desert Wind and Maricopa Wells campuses, and all students take the course.

“Students love the class and can’t wait for it to start every day,” said Mike Bertrand, the small machines teacher at Desert Winds.

Student Samantha Reeves said, “Small machines is my favorite class. It is awesome.”
