Daniel Duenas (PCSO)

A Maricopa man is facing assault and disorderly conduct charges after his arrest Wednesday.

Daniel Duenas, 42, was charged after an incident with his girlfriend at their residence on North Gatun Avenue in Alterra, police said.

Around 6 p.m., Maricopa police arrived at the home and spoke with Duena’s girlfriend, who stated that he allegedly assaulted her. Officers observed obvious signs of physical injury to the shoulder area as well as her forearm. Scratches were also seen on her skin, police said.

The woman told police she tried to leave the home with her children but was allegedly grabbed by Duenas and told she could not leave. When police interviewed Duenas, he claimed he refused to let them leave due to the COVID-19 pandemic and denied assaulting her.

Citing the physical evidence, police arrested Duenas, who was booked into Pinal County Jail.
