A Maricopa man is facing aggravated assault charges on an outstanding warrant after his arrest Thursday.
Anthony Alaniz, 22, was charged with aggravated assault on an officer on a warrant issued by Pinal County Superior Court in March, police said.
According to Maricopa police, officers were dispatched around midnight to a location near Desert Cedars on John Wayne Parkway in response to a report of an allegedly intoxicated man staggering into the roadway. When located by police, the man was identified as Alaniz. Making his way up the sidewalk of the SR 347 overpass, police contacted Alaniz, who identified himself.
Police dispatchers notified officers that Alaniz had a warrant out for his arrest with a bond of $2,000 for alleged aggravated assault of an officer, according to information from the Arizona Supreme Court.
Alaniz was arrested and booked into Pinal County Jail.
