A man faces charges after he was accused of slamming a woman into the ground several times Monday morning, police said.
Damareon N. Hawkins was booked into Pinal County Jail on suspicion of assault (domestic violence), disorderly conduct (domestic violence) and criminal damage (domestic violence), Maricopa Police said.
According to a probable cause statement:
At 12:20 a.m., Maricopa Police were dispatched to a home on North Santa Cruz Drive, on a report of an assault.
Officers arrived and spoke with a woman, who said she and Hawkins were arguing when he slammed her into the ground at least four times, causing her to hit the back of her head.
Maricopa Police said they touched the back of the woman’s head, where they felt a large bump as large as the officer’s fist, with red marks. The woman reportedly winced in pain at the slightest of touch.
It was also reported that the woman’s shirt was ripped near the collar area.
When police spoke with Hawkins, he reportedly advised that nothing physical happened, and that all they did was argue.
Hawkins was placed under arrest and booked into Pinal County Jail.
