A man is accused of taking a family member’s SUV without permission and driving away in it on Saturday night. He eventually was found by U.S. Border Patrol and Tohono O’odham police on that reservation and arrested Saturday night.

Edward J. Marquez, 41, was arrested on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia, theft of means of transportation, and unlawful use of means of transportation, according to Maricopa police.

At about 11:30 p.m., Maricopa police responded to West Santa Fe Street in Glennwilde and contacted a woman, Marquez’s sister, who reported that Marquez took her son’s keys off the counter and left in the SUV.  A child in the home reported seeing Marquez leave in the vehicle, the probable-cause statement said.

Officers discovered a glass pipe with a bulbous end in plain view on Marquez’s bed in the home. The pipe had residue that tested positive for methamphetamine.
