A man is accused of punching his girlfriend in the back of the head and slamming her to the ground Saturday night in the parking lot of The Roost, according to police.

Jace S. Dickerson was charged with assault (domestic violence) after police were called to the bar and restaurant at 20800 N. John Wayne Parkway to investigate a report of a disturbance, police said.

About 10 p.m., a bartender at The Roost told officers that both Dickerson and the victim were drinking, police said.

When they left the bar, Dickerson was observed allegedly punching the victim in the back of the head while she sat in the passenger seat of a vehicle, according to a probable cause statement, which stated the bartender told police that Dickerson then threw the woman to the ground, causing her to “face plant,” as the bartender described it.

According to the probable cause statement, officers determined that Dickerson had assaulted the female victim, causing minor injuries.

Dickerson was booked into Pinal County Jail on the charges, police said.
