A man was arrested after he appeared to be sleeping in the Maricopa Meadows Community Park, surrounded by trash, cigarette butts and items commonly associated with illegal drug consumption, according to police.

At about 1:30 a.m., police found Thomas Egley, 46, in the park, 45511 W. Honeycutt Ave. Signs throughout the park show an 11 p.m. curfew.

Egley was arrested on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia, trespassing and littering. Egley showed signs of drug use, officers said.

During a search, officers found a glass pipe in a children’s play area that later tested positive for methamphetamine, according to a probable-cause statement. Egley was booked into Pinal County jail.
