A man faces several charges after a Tuesday traffic stop, where he was found to be illegally possessing a firearm and drugs, according to police.

Tramayne D. Calvin was booked into Pinal County Jail on suspicion of possession of a dangerous drug, tampering with physical evidence, possession of marijuana over 2.5 ounces, driving with a suspended license and two counts of weapons misconduct.

According to the probable cause statement:

At 10:03 p.m., Maricopa Police made a traffic stop on a vehicle at Discount Tire, 20240 N. John Wayne Pkwy., and contacted the driver, identified as Calvin.

A record check on the man revealed to officers his license had been suspended three weeks earlier.

During the stop, Calvin told officers there were no weapons in the vehicle, police reported, but then Calvin was found to be in possession of a handgun, according to police.

Officers reported a “crystal-like” substance that was pushed into the front passenger seat. The substance weighed less than 0.1 gram and a NIK test indicated a presumptive positive for methamphetamine, according to officers.

Police said they also found a bag containing 8.6 ounces of a leafy substance that was returned with a presumptive positive as marijuana by a NIK test.

The legal limit of marijuana, with a medical ID card, is 2.5 ounces.
