The family of a Maricopa Elementary School student who died Friday night following a rollover crash on Ralston Road south of Maricopa has set up a bank account for community members to donate toward funeral expenses.

Anyone can enter a Wells Fargo branch and request to deposit funds into an account under the name of Isaiah Espinoza.

The 6-year-old was pronounced dead at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix after he was injured in a vehicle crash on Ralston Road near Peters and Nall Road sometime before 6 p.m. His dad, Jose Espinoza, 25, was driving a 1991 Toyota truck. Authorities reported that neither of them was wearing seatbelts and both were ejected from the vehicle.

Jose Espizona, 25, was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office. He could be charged with manslaughter. For more details on the crash, read InMaricopa.com's earlier report here

“We’re going to miss him a lot,” said Mirna Espinoza, Isaiah’s aunt.

She described Isaiah as a loving 6-year-old boy who was into superheroes such as Superman, Spiderman and most recently, Hawkeye, a bow-and-arrow wielding hero that was featured in last year’s blockbuster hit, “The Avengers.”

Espinoza said Isaiah would act like he was throwing arrows using a stick and rubber band.

“He liked playing videos games, riding his bike, playing with friends,” she said.

Isaiah, a first grader, also loved going to school. Espinoza said Isaiah would wake up each morning eager to get to the classroom.

The 6-year-old was born in Casa Grande but lived in Maricopa. He has one sibling, a 4-year-old sister. ***ADVERTISEMENT***
