Maricopa Ace Hardware plants seeds of hope this Saturday

Maricopa Ace Hardware will attempt to educate some more green thumbs this Saturday as it hosts a free winter grass lawn training session at its headquarters at 21542 N. John Wayne Parkway. The event will run at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Phoenix area gardener Ms. Cindy will be demonstrating a number of techniques, including: preparing the soil; dethatch do’s and don’t’s’; selecting the correct seed type; live starter fertilizers; applying seed cover; how and when to use water; control birds; cutting the new lawn; use growth fertilizers; weed control; aerating and more.

“Maricopa residents get tired of seeing a brown patch of grass in their yards and want a fresh look with the season change,” Maricopa Ace Hardware Co-Owner Thomas Bechtel said. “A winter lawn is an easy do-it-yourself project that gives great beauty and satisfaction. Through an open Q&A session, we’ll pass on tips that Ms. Cindy has learned through the years.”

The class is free and refreshments will be served. Those attending will receive a free bag of starter fertilizer while supplies last.
