Under the direction of American Legion Post No. 133 Commander Chris Flores, the Legion is teaming with Maricopa High School and fielding two Ram teams this summer.

According to a press release, the season is made possible through monetary contributions from the Pinal County Sheriff's Office and the Legion Post, as well as volunteer support of the baseball parents and coaches and the Maricopa Unified School District.

Legion baseball was established last summer under then-Post Commander Julia Gusse.

“We encourage the community to come out and cheer for our teams as they compete throughout Pinal County,” Gusse said. “Our first home game will be held on Tuesday, June 4 at Maricopa High School at 6 p.m.”

American Legion Baseball was founded in 1925; it focuses on sportsmanship, good health and active citizenship.
