Maricopa building permits hold steady

The city of Maricopa issued 245 residential building permits in July, about the same as the same month a year ago (242) but about a third of those issued in July, 2005 (760).

The biggest house-building year for Maricopa was 2005, when 6,613 permits were issued. In 2006, there were 2,471 permits, and so far in 2007, some 1,848 went out. The biggest month for housing permits in Maricopa was March, with 397.

The weakest month this year was January, with 142. The biggest month ever was in August, 2005 – in the peak of the housing boom – when there were 791 issued.
