During the month of July, the Maricopa Chamber of Commerce collected various school supplies for the students of Maricopa Unified School District.

The supplies were presented to Maricopa Unified School District Superintendent Steve Chestnut on Aug. 8, by Patti Coutré, chamber community impact chairwoman and a member of the MUSD governing board, and Marla Lewis, COO of the chamber.

The supply drive was organized by Coutré.

“We are very appreciative for those donations they are very helpful,” Chestnut said. “It’s a wonderful example of support from the community.”

“We will continue to do this next year,” said Marla Lewis, COO for the Maricopa Chamber of Commerce. “There are so many students who don’t have proper school supplies and we were glad we could help. We were very pleased with the turnout.”

The chamber started collecting items at the Great American 4th event at the Copper Sky Recreation Complex and continued collecting donations in its office throughout July.
