Dance classes resumed during the first week of August at Maricopa Dance Academy located on John Wayne Parkway, near Ace Hardware.

“We have added some exciting new classes, including a new re-vamped Hip Hop program taught by Mellita Benning and Raylon Dawson,” stated Elizabeth Fujimoto, owner of the studio. “Raylon is actually teaching Boyz Hip Hop classes that focus not only on the technique of hip hop, but on stamina and conditioning as well. Mellita is a highly skilled and experienced hip hop dancer who will add a lot of fun and technique to our studio in this area.”

This dance season MDA is offering pom/cheer and tumbling classes for youth, ages 7-18, taught by former ASU head cheerleader, Brianna Barcelo. “Brianna will be teaching our 7 and up classes. We are really lucky to have her,” said Fujimoto.

Another new program at MDA is its adult exercise program. A variety of classes are offered every morning from 8-9 a.m. and every evening (except Friday) for an hour, starting at either 8 p.m. or 8:30 p.m. (depending on the night) for only $40 per month. Babysitting is offered at a nominal fee for the morning classes.

In March MDA performed at a Suns Game, and they performed at Disneyland over Memorial Day Weekend.
