Paige Lopez was only 14 when she passed away April 29, 2011, from complications from asthma. The daughter of Carmen and Leia Lopez, she was a student at Maricopa Wells Middle School.

Now the Paige Lopez Family has donated $30,000 to support fine arts programs for students at MWMS, Desert Wind Middle School, and Maricopa High School.  The Maricopa Unified School District provides different programs including drama, music, and media arts. The funds from the family’s donation will enhance the opportunities for students interested in fine arts study while celebrating the memory of Paige Lopez in Maricopa.

The Maricopa Education Foundation is the steward of donations of all sizes including these funds from the Paige Lopez Family. MEF will be working with educators to solicit grant applications seeking funds for fine arts programs.  Those educators receiving grants of the dedicated funds will work closely with the Maricopa Education Foundation to guarantee the spirit of the donation is fully realized.
