A Maricopa Meadows resident was taken into custody after being accused of hitting another man in the head with a glass bottle Jan. 11 during an argument, according to the injured man.

Michael A. Kee, 26, was arrested and booked into Pinal County Jail on suspicion of aggravated assault (domestic violence).

At 10:48 p.m., Maricopa police were dispatched to Exceptional Hosptial, regarding a man with heavily bleeding head wounds. Officers contacted a female witness, who had brought the man to the hospital. She told them she, Kee and the man were walking home. She said Kee and the second man were having an argument when Kee hit the man with a glass bottle and took off running, police said.

According to a probable-cause statement, officers spoke with the injured man, who appeared to have a serious head injury and was covered in blood. He received staples to close the wound and a further medical evaluation due to the nature of the injury.

The incident reportedly took place near Edwards Avenue and North Maricopa Road. Officers located a broken glass bottle in the area.

On Jan. 12, at 9 p.m., Maricopa police contacted Kee at his residence on West Windmill Drive in Maricopa Meadows, where he was detained. Kee said he could not remember what happened the previous night, but knew he had a physical altercation because, he said, his right eye and body were hurting.
