Police: Maricopa man kidnaps Phoenix prostitute

A Maricopa man has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting and kidnapping a Phoenix prostitute.

The suspect, Cristobal T. Cardenas, was arrested and charged with three charges of sexual assault and one charge of kidnapping at 3 a.m. Dec. 13

According to police documents, the victim stated that Cardenas had picked her up in his vehicle around 27th Avenue and Van Buren Street in the City of Phoenix on Dec. 12.

The victim told police that she was working as a prostitute and once inside the vehicle, her and Cardenas arranged a sex deal, but Cardenas did not pay her up front.

According to police, the victim told them that Cardenas had driven her to an unknown ravine, in the City of Phoenix, where they had consensual sex.

After consensual sex, Cardenas did not pay the victim, but instead he hit and strangled her which caused her to lose consciousness.

When the victim gained consciousness, Cardenas continued to sexually assault her.

According to police documents, Cardenas then drove himself and the victim to a remote location where he sexually assaulted her again.

Cardenas then drove the victim to his home in Rancho El Dorado where he restrained her and sexually assaulted her again, police documents say.

Police state that Cardenas used zip ties, socks, and bedsheets to restrain the victim in his home against her will.

According to police documents, at some point, Cardenas left the room, the victim was able to free herself and run to a nearby home for help.

The victim still had zip ties on her wrist after her escape.

The victim told police that she left many belongings, such as clothing, in Cardenas’ home and vehicle.

A search warrant was issued for his home, where police then found Cardenas and took him into custody.

Police also found zip ties matching the ones on the victim’s wrists in Cardenas bedroom during the search.

Police interviewed Cardenas but he wouldn’t answer any questions about the allegations.

A joint investigation was conducted with Maricopa Police Department and Phoenix Police Department regarding this case. Further charges will be submitted by Phoenix Police in this case related to the first and second sexual assaults in the Phoenix area.
