Maricopa Market “Airing” Soon

Maricopa will have its very own open-air market soon. Scheduled to begin on Saturday, October 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at a location still to be announced, the Maricopa Market will feature produce, homemade products, and craft items. The location will be within the city of Maricopa.

At present most applicants for space have been craftsmen, but “we are hoping for a balance of agricultural products and craft items,” said Denise Diederich, one of the market’s organizers. “If anyone with a backyard garden has excess produce, come on down.” Ms. Diederich explained that health department licenses are only required for processed foods in the state of Arizona, not for produce fresh from the garden or field. Anyone wanting to sell food they have processed must already have secured a license.

The market will be held the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, and applications for spaces are still being taken. If you are an interested vendor, call 520-424-3464 or email [email protected].
