MPD arrests 24 over Cinco de Mayo weekend

The Maricopa Police Department conducted DUI saturation patrols over the Cinco De Mayo weekend beginning Thursday, May 5, through Saturday, May 7. During that time three to four MPD officers were dedicated to the enforcement effort, which was paid for by the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety grant.

The enforcement detail resulted in 159 traffic stops, six alcohol-related DUI arrests, three drug-related DUI arrests, 14 misdemeanor arrests and one felony arrest. The average blood alcohol content of the DUI arrests was .138 percent, almost twice the legal limit.
