Cinco De Mayo DUI patrols planned

The Maricopa Police Department will conduct DUI saturation patrols from Saturday, through Sunday as part of the Pinal County Regional DUI Task Force.

Efforts will be directed at detecting and arresting impaired drivers and educating them on the negative effects of drunk driving. Several officers with specialized training in DUI detection will be assigned to work enforcement details around Maricopa.

Sheriff’s deputies and police officers from Pinal County, Casa Grande, Coolidge and Eloy are scheduled to participate. The saturation patrols will begin each night and run until the early morning hours.

Police ask drivers to remember consuming any amount of alcohol or drugs that would impair driving is considered being under the influence. If a person has a .08 blood alcohol content or above he or she is over the “legal limit.”
