Maricopa residents looking for an opportunity to work at growing companies within the community had a chance to meet prospective employers at Wednesday night’s job fair.

The event, hosted at the Wells Fargo branch in Fry’s Marketplace Center, welcomed more than 35 prospective employees, each having a chance to speak with any of the ten different local employers who were on hand.

“I am very excited about the turn out,” said Veronica Reeves, vice president and local branch manager for Wells Fargo, “both with the companies that are here and the residents who have stopped in. We need to do this more often.”

Karen Brunetti, staffing consultant for Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino Resort, echoed that sentiment. “This event is great for the residents of Maricopa because it’s nice to be a part of something local. It’s nice to be able to work in your own backyard,” said Brunetti. “Harrah’s is looking for a lot of good people, and we would love to find local talent!” Harrah’s Casino is currently offering both full and part-time positions.

“We had two or three people come by specifically to see us,” said Byron Fanning, owner of On the Go Bistro, “that is really exciting!”
