With Nancy Smith and Bob Marsh already guaranteed spots on the Maricopa City Council, Andre LaFond and Amber Liermann will battle it out for the final seat in November general election. With Councilwoman Julia Gusse deciding not to contest the election result, InMaricopa wanted to know who residents were supporting in the runoff.

As of 1 p.m. Friday, 195 people answered our informal poll, which asked: Will you be voting for Andre LaFond or Amber Liermann in the November runoff?

About 53% of voters said they were supporting Liermann while 31% went with LaFond, and 16% percent said they were undecided.

In a social media post promoting the poll, both candidates had support from commenters, but it was strongest for Liermann.

“Amber gets the vote no question,” commented Kevin Kestler.

“Amber all the way, should be a slam dunk for her,” said John Daniels.

“The guy won’t answer any questions he’s too wishy-washy,” wrote Rich Straszewski.

The general election is Nov. 3 and the runoff winner will be seated in December.
