A backpack containing two stolen guns was found in a teenager’s bedroom, which lead to his arrest and charges, police say.

The suspect, Michael C. Williams, 18, was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property on December 21.

According to police documents, on May 27, the Maricopa Police Department responded to a home when Williams’ mother found a backpack containing two handguns in the teen’s room.

Williams was a 17-year-old runaway at the time the firearms were found.

The firearms were found to be stolen from a local pawn shop, A1 Pawn, May 22.

When police interviewed Williams, he said that the backpack was given to him by a subject he only knew as “Polo.”

Williams was vague about what was in the backpack and the subject who gave it to him.

Williams told police he had not looked in the backpack but admitted to putting it in his bedroom.

On June 23, before Williams arrest, he was apprehended by Peoria Police on separate charges.
