The Maricopa City Council will consider tonight a new local demand response service for the community. As proposed, the new service will utilize the COMET buses and will serve Maricopa, Chandler Regional Hospital and Casa Grande Regional Medical Facility.

The council’s regular meeting begins at 7 p.m. tonight in the Maricopa Unified School District Board Room, 44150 West Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway.

With the loss of state transportation funding, the city has opted to discontinue the MaricopaXPRESS (MAX) commuter service that runs between Maricopa, Phoenix and Tempe.

The last day for the MAX service will be Friday, Sept. 30. The City has continued its efforts to assist riders by partnering with Valley Metro’s Vanpool. Those who wish to participate in the vanpool program may contact Valley Metro at 602-253-6062 or by email at [email protected] .
