Water Safety Month is nearly over, but Maricopa Fire and Medical Department will carry that messaging through June with its Water Safety Day.

The department will host the water safety event on June 3 from 1-4 p.m. at Copper Sky Aquatic Center, where they will provide information and tips on drowning prevention and demonstrate water-rescue techniques. Crews will also show off their emergency response vehicles during the event.

MFMD spokesperson Monica Williams said she hopes community members will take advantage of the informational event.

“Anytime we have a chance, our crews are talking with people and giving them that reminder to watch kids around water,” Williams said. “Our water safety messaging never stops here in Arizona. Yes, we push it in the summer because it’s on everybody’s mind, but … there’s never not a water season here.”
