Miss Maricopa sponsors wet run

A Splash Into Summer 5K race, 2-mile run and 1-mile walk to raise money for the Miss City of Maricopa Scholarship Program is set for Saturday at the Villages Clubhouse, 20991 N. Butterfield Parkway. 

Participants will be bombarded along the route by kids armed with water balloons and soakers. There also will be water stations along the route. 

Runners will finish the race passing through a special water archway. The Maricopa Fire Department will use their hose to cool down participants. 

Race registration is 7 a.m., with the 5K and 2-mile run starting at 7:30 a.m. and the 1-mile fun run at 8 a.m. Prizes will be awarded to first- and second-place winners.
