MOD Pizza Sonoran Creek
MOD is a fast-casual concept featuring individually-sized pizzas and salads.

MOD Super Fast Pizza will officially join the line-up at Sonoran Creek Marketplace.

The addition was announced Wednesday by Thompson Thrift, developer of the shopping center at the southwest corner of John Wayne Parkway and Edison Road. A timeline was not available for start of construction.

MOD Pizza was founded in the Seattle area in 2008 by entrepreneurs Scott and Ally Svenson and is the pioneer of the fast-casual pizza sector, offering individual artisan-style pizzas and salads. The food is made on-demand, with any combination of toppings for one flat price. The company expects to open its 500th location in the first half of this year.

Andrew Call, vice president of development management for the Southwest region of Thompson Thrift, said construction of the center continues to be on target for completion in the third quarter of this year, with tenants likely opening early in the fourth quarter.

Regarding the much-anticipated Sprouts, Call said construction should be completed in the third quarter, and then it will be up to Sprouts to schedule an opening. “They have their own timeline to stock, staff and turn around the building and open,” he said.

Sonoran Creek will bring 82,000 square feet of new retail space, 282 new jobs generating $10.4 million in annual wages, and a total economic output of more than $25.6 million annually, the city has said.

Call said that with the current lineup of tenants (see full list below) there is room for two to four more in the shopping center, which has a total of 12-14 retail spaces, including a separate building that could house one large tenant or two to three smaller businesses.

The tenant lineup now includes 10 stores ranging from Sprouts Farmers Market to a tire shop and a chiropractor:

  • MOD Pizza
  • Sprouts Farmers Market
  • Brake Masters
  • Discount Tire
  • Wynn Nail Salon
  • The Joint Chiropractic
  • State Farm (Vanessa McDill)
  • Jimmy John’s
  • Filiberto’s Mexican Food
  • Neon Barre fitness studio
