MOMS Club, Santa Rosa chapter, thanks first responders

Some people say that Sept. 11 is forgotten, but not in Maricopa.

Last week the MOMS Club of Maricopa, Santa Rosa chapter, kept up their annual tradition of delivering thank you treats and cards on Sept. 11 to Maricopa’s first responders. Their purpose was to say, “Thanks for keeping us safe.”

Dividing into groups, the moms and their children visited all four fire stations in Maricopa, the sheriff’s office substation, the Maricopa Police Department and the Ak-Chin Fire Department.

The children made cards and letters for the firefighters and public safety officers.

Santa Rosa Elementary School also got involved with several classes offering handmade cards and letters of appreciation. According to MOMS Club member Lisa Cannon, “The letters, cards and pictures were adorable.”

Cannon added, “We think it’s important to let the police and fire men and women know we appreciate what they do to keep us safe, and we want our kids to realize that, too.”
