A man brandishing a small handgun robbed a Qwest/Century Link employee of his vehicle, a small amount of cash and personal belongings on Friday.

At approximately 1:35 p.m., the Maricopa Police Department responded to the 45000 block of West Edwards Avenue on an armed robbery call. Arriving units discovered the armed robbery had occurred approximately 20 minutes prior to dispatch receiving the call.

Responding units were met by the victim, an employee of Qwest/Century Link. According to the victim, at approximately 1 p.m., while inside the building, the employee heard the bell ring for the entry door.

When the employee opened the entry door the suspect — described as a tall, thin African-American male in his early 30s — entered the building brandishing a handgun described as a black, small-caliber pistol.

The suspect inquired where the money was located. The employee told the suspect that there was no cash at this facility. The suspect then demanded cash from the employee. The employee turned over a small amount of personal cash, car keys and personal belongings.
