To possibly identify the suspect who robbed a Circle K early Wednesday, the Maricopa Police Department is reviewing surveillance tapes from the convenience store in the days preceding the robbery on the theory the suspect may have cased the store ahead of time.

The suspect's face and head were covered by a bandana, the bill from his hat and the hood from his sweater. Police do not know his race or approximate age.

“Detectives are reviewing footage from the days previous to the robbery,” said Officer Ricardo Alvarado, MPD public information officer.

Alvarado said from certain positions where the suspect was standing, and his apparent effort to stay out of view of camera as much as possible, it is possible he previously could have entered the store to check out the surveillance system.

Alvarado said the department also is reviewing any service calls from stores near the Maricopa Manor Business Center in the past few months to find out if there are any reports of someone loitering who may match the suspect’s description.
