The Maricopa Police Department Explorers Post will meet on a different day and at a new location, according to Maricopa High School Resource Officer Chris Evans.

Previously, the explorers held meetings inside the Career & Technical Education building on Tuesdays, but will begin meeting 5 p.m. on Wednesdays at a different site on campus.

“We had to move classrooms because MHS Ram Academy is operating out of the room we were in and class will be in session while we have our meetings,” Evans said.

Evans said the logistics will actually provide better training for students.

“Patrol has two squads working and officers can break away to assist in our training more easily because there is more of them on patrol on Wednesday night,” he said.

The MPD Explorers is a group of young adults who participate in police training, education and volunteer work.
